Bipolar Disorder Screener
The Mood Disorder Questionnaire (MDQ) is the most widely used screening tool for bipolar disorder. It looks for past periods of mania or hypomania that may have been missed.
This matters: about 40% of people diagnosed with depression alone actually have bipolar disorder, and treating bipolar depression with antidepressants alone can make symptoms worse.
