Psychiatrists in
Mclean.

When seeking a psychiatrist specializing in Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) therapy in Mclean, Virginia, it's essential to consider several factors that can significantly impact your treatment outcome. Our directory lists 13 providers across 5 TMS clinics in Mclean.

What to Look for in a TMS Psychiatrist

The ideal TMS psychiatrist should have specific training in neuromodulation techniques, a strong background in treatment-resistant depression, and experience with the particular TMS device used at their clinic. Ask each clinic about its psychiatrists' training and fellowship background.

Treatment Approach

Approaches vary by clinic. TMS care typically begins with a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation, followed by brain mapping to identify the optimal treatment location. The standard protocol involves 36 sessions over 6-9 weeks, though some clinics offer accelerated protocols like SAINT that compress treatment into just 5 days.

Insurance and Cost Considerations

Many TMS providers work with major insurance plans such as Medicare or commercial insurers, but coverage varies by provider and plan. Confirm with each clinic which plans it accepts and what out-of-pocket costs apply.
