MeRT vs standard TMS: what is the difference?

We are seeing more searches for MeRT (Magnetic e-Resonance Therapy). It is a form of repetitive TMS where the stimulation frequency is individualized from an EEG recording, rather than using a standard fixed protocol. Wave Neuroscience announced in June 2026 that the FDA cleared its MeRT system for PTSD. Our news summary, including what was and wasn't disclosed about the trial: https://tmslist.com/news/wave-mert-ptsd-fda-2026-06/ Uses other than the cleared one remain investigational. If you are comparing a MeRT clinic with a standard TMS clinic, worth asking both: what condition they'd be treating you for, whether that use is FDA-cleared, how many sessions they plan, and whether insurance has covered it for their other patients. Has anyone here had MeRT? How did the EEG-guided setup compare with what you expected? This is general information, not medical or insurance advice.
