BrainsWay announced a secondary analysis, published in the Journal of Affective Disorders, of data from its multisite randomized non-inferiority trial comparing the accelerated SWIFT protocol with standard once-daily Deep TMS. That trial supported the FDA clearance of SWIFT in September 2025.

Among 89 patients with major depressive disorder, the share reporting any suicidal ideation on the Scale for Suicide Ideation fell from 22.5% (20 patients) at baseline to 6.7% (6 patients) after six weeks, roughly a 70% relative reduction. Improvement appeared under both protocols, and the company reports that the median time to a one-point improvement was 10 days with SWIFT versus 13 days with standard treatment.

The result is a before-and-after comparison within a secondary analysis, not a test against sham, so it should be read as hypothesis-supporting. Deep TMS is FDA-cleared for major depressive disorder, not specifically for suicidal ideation or behavior.
